Hurricane Katrina Update for Our Miami Home

Hello Friends and Family,

Many of you have e-mailed called and asked about how we faired in the Hurricane. We did great! Thank G-d we were not in New Orleans!!

Our victims of the storm were our dog, Amber and our bird, Byrd;

Amber was left to ride out the storm in the house alone when the pet sitter who was supposed to spend the night with her did not make it. Our hero neighbors Barbra and Jerry Hester got our call for help from Berlin, Germany. In the midst of the storm they left their safe, dry house to cross a flooded street in the driving rain to check on Amber! Because of them she was fine.

Byrd on the other hand had a real adventure. We boarded her in Sinbads Bird Store (on Bird Road, where else?). In the middle of the hurricane half the roof blew off and the two big windows blew out. Alfredo, the owner told me it was a real mess. He spent the storm moving animals to safe places in the store and protected them all including Byrd.

Estelle and I got home on Sunday to no power and a screwed up Air Conditioner; I was feeling bad about this until I saw the Gulf Coast devastation. As of Wednesday night we were back in the house with the dog and the bird and slowly getting back to pre-Katrina normal.

One of our neighbors took a real hit, see the photos and our neighborhood is rapidly returning to normal.

Life is good and we have NO Complaints!!

We hope the each of you is doing as well as we are.

Love to all,

Bob for me and Estelle
